Managed the construction of an Italian architect, sent from Moscow, Pietro Francesco. Behind the fortified 13th tower wall, a length of two kilometers, housed a military garrison, weapons and warehouses ammunition. Each tower had its name and purpose. The sixteenth century for the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin was saturated with military battles. However, he resisted and never found himself in the hands of the enemy.

With the beginning of January 1714, Peter the Great formed the Nizhny Novgorod Gubernia, and the Kremlin became its administrative center.
